Open matches

Call a match and let people sign up

Short on players? Create an open match with day, time and venue, and let league members sign up. Once all four are in, turn it into a match.

1

What it is

An open match is a call with no fixed pairs: you propose when and where, and others sign up until the spots fill.

2

Create

Go to the Open → New open match tab. Pick date, time and venue and publish it to the league.

3

Any league member can sign up or drop out while spots remain; everyone sees who's in. If the creator drops out, the call passes to another sign-up; if no one's left, it's cancelled.

4

Form the match

Once all 4 are in, the open match closes and moves to your history as a match pending its result: score it live (phone or watch) or log the result by hand.

5

If it doesn't fill in time

If you're not 4 at least 1 hour before the set time, the open match is cancelled automatically and we notify those signed up — so no one shows up at the court for nothing.

6

Notices and reminders

Members are notified when an open match is published in their league. And once formed, reminders arrive 24 h and 2 h before so nobody misses it.

7

Counts the same

Once played, it counts toward ELO and rankings exactly like any other match in the league.

Open matches are the quick way to fill a court without organising anything in the WhatsApp group: post it, let people sign up, and play.
If the call comes from a poll with more people interested than spots, the extras go on a waitlist and join automatically if someone drops out.
